Bridgeport High School Reviews

This school has really taken the lead in the area as far as the technological advances it offers its students. The Technology Co-ordinator is recognized as the best in Belmont County. A new campus combining all of its present buildings into one campus will be completed and put into use in January 2007. This district is one that I am proud to send my children to.

This school has a caring principal who tries hard to maintain discipline. It is a small school with small classes which makes it great. The average class size is about 16. Everyone basically gets along at this small town working class school.Plus a new school is in the process of being built!

I attneded Bridgeport High School and graduated prior to the new principal. I enjoyed high school and was glad that I graduated from Bridgeport. My brother attended Bridgeport High School after I had graduated and had many incidents with the new principal. He is now not attending the school. From mine and my parents point of view the principal does not know how to relate to students well, and is more like a 'cop' or drill sargeant than a principal.

My family has been involved with Bridgeport Schools for 40 years and I must say the new principal has made me rethink future attendance. We have had more problems since his arrival than imaginable. As a parent, I don t feel this past year has been based on educational strategies but rather trying to intimidate good students to comply with some yet unknown plan. For example, my child has been disciplined for unexcused absences. Each of these absences has been known and approved by me. They are deemed unexcused simply because there is no doctor s excuse. It s a shame that my word isn t sufficient. Moreover, based on my income and medical coverage, I cannot afford to run to the doctor every time my child is sick for one day. If grades were an issue, I might understand his micromanagement as a form of parental oversight. However, she s on the honor roll.

I have a daughter currently in Bridgeport High School. There are some of the worst and most mean spirited teachers I can imagine in this school.
